I love it where they say that carbon dating is unreliable science to debunk when life started, yet accept
genetic science so they can explain Adam and Eve. It's so obvious that they pick and choose...

Sorry. It's 1914. The book is a bright green colour and there's no questions
after the paragraphs.
No. From the gist of what I'm getting, they're stating that the earth was
created in six "days." They're not arguing with the age of the universe,
per se, but then again, that was 40 plus years ago and technology is so
much better now.

one. There's some really old stuff down there..Anyway, this Bible Really From God book
is the bright green one from the '70s which I vaguely remember. But paging through it,
I really was astounded at what the Org said....trying to "prove" the flood, trying to assert
the earth is only 6,000 years old based on quotes from scientists who no one ever heard of
and, I'm sure, they're misquoting. The 1913 thing crops up alot...remember this was published
in 1969, so they Org was really pushing the generation thing at that time.
Any special requests?

The Amish
by James_Slash ini watched an interesting programme last night on the amish religion.
i remember watching the film "witness" many years ago with harrison ford so i already had an insight into what sort of people they were.. they seem a peaceful, family/community orientated group who stick to the teachings in the bible like glue.
when jesus spoke about 'being separate from the world' surely no-one could have followed this more than the amish.

I have lived in Lancaster County for ten years and have gotten quite familiar with the Amish
and their ways. I have varying views on them, both positive and somewhat negative and sometimes
just downright confusing.
Let's start with the horse and buggy. Older order Amish are not allowed to drive, however,
they can own a car. They hire a driver. Or they'll take a taxi. Kind of like saying you can't have a beer
in your house but you can at a bar. Also, their buggies' wheels are made of steel and they tear up
the roads something fierce. Not to mention being stuck behind them, especially on Sundays. And their
horses leave big piles of mess everywhere which I'm always dodging when I'm out for a bike ride. I've
also seen them treat their horses very inhumanely. Last summer I saw one horse frothing at the mouth
while the buggy driver was whipping it to go on. The horse fell over. They're not all like that, I'm sure, but
I've seen my fair share. Plus puppy mills were mentioned and they're quite common among the Amish out
here.
Electricity... anywhere but the house. Phones. Most of them own cell phones. I see them talking on them
quite frequently. I'm not fooled one bit about their keepint totally separate. It's impossible really.
Child abuse. I work in the legal system at the courthouse and it really is a HUGE problem in the community.
Like the JWs they tend to deal with in "in house." Most of it doesn't get reported. Megan's Law website has
several Amish men listed as perps in this area alone. One lives down the road from me.
It's really pretty much like the JW religion only JWs shower every day, have no facial hair, and actually drive the cars.
These are my mixed feelings on the Amish.....

That's probably it...but I do have a way around getting through to her FB page.
I don't think she wants me to see because she's doing her own thing and pretending to
be a JW....

Thanks but I am SO ANGRY right now. I guess I just need to move on
and get over it. It's almost been a year and I still have NO IDEA
why she's mad at me. Last time we spoke everything was fine.

Apparently, I'm good enough to have my 13-year-old nephew stay in my home.....my sister,
his mother, has gone JW crazy again after fading over 20 years ago. My nephew told me that
I'm not "allowed" on their Facebooks. But I guess I'm okay for a place to stay, ample food, and
nice treatment by myself and my son.
I was so upset I emailed her about it...the response? "Glad that L and Z are having a good time."

Ugh... I forced myself to listen to this in its entirety. Howcome all of the speeakers sound
the same. It was a deja vu moment from my childhood..that slow, monotonous, second grade
tone. He said secret place 38 times and I am still not sure what he means by that. Funny how
depression is mentioned. NEVER mentioned when I was growing up. Jehovah didn't allow that.
Also, the what wordly man doesn't have coercion part made me vomit. The nicest men I've known
have not a religious leaning whatsoever. i think i need some maalox

Depends on your body. Some people can't adjust to the shift of schedule and
sleeping irregular hours. Make sure you get good blackout curtains in your bedroom.
That helps. What is it? Nursing?
